Jill Torberson is an artist, educator, and musician in Portland, Oregon. Jill has studied printmaking, mixed media sculpture, woodshop, and metal arts, including welding and blacksmithing
Aside from gallery shows, Jill is a licensed contractor, and creates custom pieces including gates, trellises, fences, railings, fireplace mantels and screens, and site-specific art for both indoor and outdoor
Public art venues:
Maryhill Museum Outdoor Sculpture Invitational Exhibition, 2007. Two works of sculpture were specifically made to fit into the landscape of the Columbia River Gorge. One piece, “Fertility Petroglyph”, remains in the museums permanent collection.
City of Wilsonville, Oregon, 2010-2012. Commissioned a sculpture for the public viewing.
Portland General Electric Company, 2005, “Breakfast of Champions” event. 2010- Custom work for hydroelectric office at the Portland World Trade Center.
PGE- 2012. Commissioned to design and fabricate art for The Alder Street sub station Portland’s Belmont neighborhood.
City of Estacada, Oregon, 2000-present. “The Power House Project” – 20 invited artists tour historic PGE hydroelectric power plants on the Clackamas River. These facilities are closed to the public.
Hollyfield Village, 2013. Commissioned by NW Housing Alternatives to build 3 custom panels for the entry of the complex.
Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, 2014. Oregon. Ironwork for the visitor’s center in Washington Park.
Marvel 29, St. John’s. 2015. Historically relevant work for a new building.

Published articles include Oregon Home Magazine, the Oregonian, The Bee newspaper, Oregon Live, The Portland Tribune, and many on line sources.
Jill is a hornist, and plays in the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Portland Festival Symphony, and the Northwest Horn Orchestra.
Jill works as adjunct faculty at Portland State University, in the School of Architecture, teaching metal shop to students in the school of architecture.
