Painting still lifes offers the opportunity to tell a story, a play where objects are the players. Since moving to Portland 3 1/2 years ago, these subjects have moved outside gaining new scale and context when held up against the beauty and grandeur of Oregon. Although I have painted in both oils and watercolors, I have been focusing on watercolors lately. My watercolors are unique from other paintings in this medium, utilizing some wet techniques, but also using the paint to serve the image in whatever way necessary. The brightness and clarity of watercolor reflects my feelings about the subjects.
My studio is in my home.
