When I first started painting, I mostly used either acrylic or oil, but I was never quite satisfied with either one. I was looking for something chaotic, but not too chaotic. Ultimately I tried watercolor, and it just felt right. It’s alive when you put it down, it’s immediate, spontaneous and beautiful. It’s the only medium where the painting is better than your ability, if you don’t get in the way.
These days, I work primarily in watercolor, but I like to include all sorts of details, using all sorts of materials, like ink or pastels. My work often includes elements of collage, which might be anything from scraps of decorative wallpaper to my grandpa’s old blueprints.Website: www.leewhiteillustration.com
